This was my first work trip, and I was both nervous and excited to be here, I had been looking forward to it for weeks. Thoughts swirled in my mind—would I present myself well? Would the shoot go as planned? Would the client meeting be successful?Irrespective of how nervous I felt earlier during the transit, it later made me feel determined. I reminded myself that I had earned this. Each moment made me feel empowered. I looked around at the busy environment and realized this was what I had always wanted. The enthusiasm, the sense of purpose - it was all here, and so was I.The fear of traveling alone and not meeting expectations started to fade as I enjoyed each moment. It was not just a professional milestone, but also a personal recognition. I learned that stepping out of my comfort zone wasn't just about facing fears; it was about finding endless possibilities. The whole experience made me stronger and proved that I was more capable than I had thought.The lesson I learned from this journey is priceless: ✅ Always step out of your comfort zone to achieve bigger and better things.✅ Being independent helps you grow personally and improves your ability to handle people and situations.✅ The experiences you gain are invaluable.To anyone afraid to take that leap—go for it! The time away from home might give you fresh eyes and a new perspective on your life, career, and ideals. Since I began travelling on my own, I've developed a new perspective on life. To Himachal Pradesh, on my very first journey abroad. Travelling to a new place allows you to expand your horizons and rethink your priorities by exposing you to new cultures, experiences, and obstacles. You may learn a lot about other cultures and ways of life by taking a trip. The novelty of a new setting has the potential to stimulate the mind and lead to the development of original thoughts. Problem-solving and self-assurance are two areas that can benefit from the obstacles of travelling to a new location. To sum up, taking a trip can help you reflect on your life and make adjustments for the better.I was amazed at how much I grew as a person during my time alone in Himachal Pradesh. The freedom and independence of travelling alone can be life-changing. As a result of being forced out of your normal routine, you become more independent and flexible. You'll gain confidence and the ability to make sound choices as you're pushed to think for yourself. In addition, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people when travelling alone might help you develop compassion and understanding. I’ve always been a wanderer, and that fueled my desire to move out of India to see this beautiful world, learn about different cultures, and adopt the best aspects of them.Recently, I visited different landscapes in Scotland and saw a couple trekking with an infant. I could have never imagined going on a trek with an infant back in India. This is what exposure means to me.Similarly, I also wanted to work with people from around the world to learn how they think and perform their jobs and to adopt the best possible practices. This has helped me acquire new skills. Anniversary Reflections One year ago, on October 3rd, 2023, I embarked on an incredible journey with my family as we relocated to Dubai. I am endlessly grateful to Thomas Loest for this life-changing opportunity! 🙏 Reflecting on the past 12 months, I wanted to share some, I hope, valuable lessons for those considering a similar career move:1️⃣ Confidence is key: Embrace self-doubt as a natural part of change, but never lose sight of your capabilities. You're not alone on this expat journey, and with resilience, you'll thrive in your new environment. Stay confident and do what is right!2️⃣ Family matters: Relocating affects loved ones too, so dedicate time and care to ensure their transition is smooth. In my case, it was crucial for our elder daughter. Remember to have fun together, whatever happenns.3️⃣ Embrace connections: I'm really thankful for the friendships that blossomed here, like, for example, Ramy Zaki from Multinational Companies Business Group MCBG, my basketball buddy Mohammed Al Alami, and dear friend Akshat Khandelwal, among many others. These connections are the lifeblood of this new chapter. Stay open to the world and take opportunities!It's not a new life - but a new chapter filled with fresh routines and challenges. Three good friends of mine are flying out for overseas trips.One for for 4 weeks to France, one to Thailand for 2 weeks post Mardi Gras, and one to New Zealand. And I just had a sudden realisation that I am not in the slightest bit envious. Am I faking it? Am I pretending to be a good person? Hmmmm, no I don't think so. When I sit and ponder it, I really am ecstatic for them.All 3 of them have had a couple of incredibly tough years. They have done the hard work to make it through. And they couldn’t deserve these trips more. Is that why I am happy for them? Because I can justify that they ‘deserve’ it? I’m not 100% sure if that’s what makes me feel good about it, but I know I feel a sense of lightness and pride that I’m not envious. I’m enjoying doing my hard work right now. I want to make more progress before my next trip. I want to feel that I deserve it. That I’ve made it to the next level of what I want for my life. That I really like myself when I get out of bed every day. Or is it because I went overseas last year? Or that we are planning a trip to Japan in May. Am I not envious because I know I’ll get my turn? Am I not envious because they are such good people, and I love them, that I truly do want them to be happy. What if they had come through their tough years and suddenly their lives were really easy and beautiful for them. They were going on big overseas trips more than once a year. Then would I be happy about it? Am I ok with a certain amount of happiness but if it appears to be too much then I’m not quite so pleased?Throwing this idea around in my head, I think I’m closer to having moved past this. I think because I have a much clearer picture of what I want in life, I am making progress towards it, and I feel more confidence because I’ve been doing so many scary things out of my comfort zone, that I’ve grown as a person. It’s that sense of being in your own lane. And the phrase the CEO of your own life. I finally feel in charge of my life. And not only in charge, but that I can actually do it. And do it well. "What are you talking about?" you say, "of course you are doing it, your life is great.” But I haven’t really ever felt that way. I’ve felt directionless and treading water, waiting for something to happen to me. I’ve let life just happen to me, falling into jobs and not really having a vision and taking the steps to get there. Now that I’m focused on myself, and taking responsibility for my happiness, it feels like a shift. I’m finally working on my hell yeses. If the gurus say that what makes us envious, is what we want, can we actually use that to our advantage. Will that help to bring us closer to our hell yeses and ultimately loving our lives?

Mumbai Ka Life Line… Bole Toh Local TrainIdentified as Mumbai's lifeline for all travellers who want to reach on time, zipping through countless stations, the fast, the slow, the routes, and so many combinations and permutations. A day without the local train and Mumbai stands STILL.I being a Mumbaikar, have this special privilege and am fortunate enough to ride on Mumbai’s local trains. I see these daily trips as a revelation and have learnt some of my most important life lessons.Resilience: Navigating the madness of rush hour and crowded compartments has made me more resilient.Humility: The mix of people you encounter along the journey is very humbling because, no matter what your background or occupation is, everyone is in it TOGETHER. It serves as a constant reminder to stay grounded.Perseverance: The hustle and behavioral pattern of fellow passengers have given me the strength to persevere and stay focused on my goals. Seeing so many people push through their daily grind motivates me, no matter what, to keep walking and keep moving ahead.Adaptability: Traveling in Mumbai every day has taught me that it’s not just about reaching a destination but about cherishing every step of the journey. Each ride is another lesson, teaching me to be adaptable, humble, and determined.
