A man awaiting trial for the 2011 killing of a woman was ordered held without bail after being charged with gunning down and killing a man at a stop light that same year, officials said.
Dwayne Timberlake, 22, was charged with first-degree murder for an April 10, 2011, fatal shooting in the 7400 block of South Vincennes Avenue, police said.
The shooting happened as the victim, Kristopher Daniels, 22, sat in a car at a traffic light just before 7 p.m. April 10 in the 7400 block of South Vincennes Avenue, according to police.
Daniels was in the car when Timberlake got out of a vehicle in front of him and began firing, police said.
Daniels put his car into reverse to try and flee but Timberlake allegedly continued to fire shots as Daniels tried to reverse his car and crashed into another vehicle, police said.
With Daniels’ car trapped, Timberlake continued to fire, hitting Daniels, of the 6200 block of South Perry several times, police said. Daniels was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Timberlake is also awaiting trial for the Feb. 4, 2011 shooting of Princess Streeter several times as she walked in the 2600 block of East 75th Street about 2:30 a.m., officials said.
Streeter of the 3700 block of South Wabash Avenue was pronounced dead less than three hours later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
In addition to the two killings, Timberlake is also charged with a separate carjacking and armed robbery case, according to officials.
In court, prosecutors said that he was picked out of line ups by witnesses in another vehicle and by a Chicago State University police sergeant who was working security at a currency exchange at the intersection.
In addition to his pending cases Timberlake was convicted in 2010 of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for which he served 18 months at the Illinois Department of Corrections.
