In Minecraft, one can build a fortress, hunt monsters, explore the underworld-like Nether, or try to reach the endgame by slaying the Ender Dragon. However, the modding community has offered a whole new dimension to the game.

Through modding and texture packs, players can completely redesign the world of Minecraft to better suit their tastes. Whole new gameplay elements can be added, and the possibilities are virtually endless. The question then must be asked: have you ever played Minecraft and wanted to be the very best, like no one ever was? If you have then here are some Minecraft mods that every Pokemon fan has to try.
10 Minecraft Forge
This mod isn't strictly Pokemon-related, but it is a mod loading platform that will be needed to download and use just about every mod on this list.
Minecraft Forge gives players a vast database of mods to choose from and is quite useful even outside its function as a foundational mod for other Minecraft mods.
9 Pokeball
The Pokeball mod adds a foundational mechanic of the Pokemon world to the wonderfully blocky world of Minecraft - Pokeballs. These Pokeballs can be used to capture the hostile mobs that haunt the world, and the player can throw them out again later, like a real Pokemon. It's unclear if the mobs will remain hostile to the player after being released.

There are also friendly Pokemon Trainers that spawn and drop Pokeballs for the player. This mod was made by Planet Minecraft user felixmc for version 1.4.7 of Minecraft.
8 Bidoof Totem Of Undying
This is a seemingly simple retexturing mod that nonetheless feels absolutely vital for any Pokemon fan's Minecraft experience. This mod reskins the Totem of Undying to resemble a Minecraft version of the Pokemon Bidoof. It makes Bidoof's cry when used, and the item name is also changed to just say, "Bidoof."
Despite the relative simplicity, this is a beautifully conceived mod that every Pokemon-loving Minecraft player absolutely needs. Bidoof Totem of Undying comes from Planet Minecraft user rocket741 and was made for Minecraft version 1.16.5.
7 PokeCube Revival
PokeCube Revival is a resurrection of a different mod called PokeCube. This is a vast mod that adds Pokemon, Pokeballs, and Pokemon mechanics into the world of Minecraft. With it, players can battle and catch Pokemon. The Pokemon are quite smart and are able to interact with the world around them and will use attacks that change depending on the situation.
This mod does require a few other mods to function properly, including Minecraft Forge, ThutCore, and PokeCube Core, all of which are linked at the bottom of the PokeCube Revival mod page. It has been updated for Version 1.12.2 and was uploaded by 9 Minecraft user Thutmose.
6 PokemonMD
PokemonMD: Undaunted Heroes is an interesting and creative mod for Minecraft. It adds Pokemon as well as Final Fantasy, Okami, and Starcraft elements into the game. Also, the Pokemon themselves have been stylistically altered in interesting ways.
Pokemon can be tamed, but some are also outright hostile mobs and mini-boss encounters. It does need the Minecraft Forge mod to function. The mod has been updated as far as Minecraft 1.7.10 and was created by Minecraft Forum user Spikybum Jolteon.
5 Pixelmon
The name "Pixelmon" has been applied to a few different Pokemon-themed mods for Minecraft. Each one seems to have different developers, and they are all vast and carefully constructed. Three of the major ones will be spotlighted here. The first is just Pixelmon and was created by a large and hard-working team of modders.
This version adds impressively rendered Pokemon mobs throughout the world that can be caught, ridden, and battle. It requires the Minecraft Forge mod to function and has been updated as far as Minecraft 1.12.2
4 PokeTournament
This is intended to be a companion mod that can be run off the Pixelmon servers. It allows players to hold Pokemon battling tournaments, though it's largely based on an honor system so players don't use cheats or exploits to win the tourney.
The Pokemon League and battling tournaments are a large part of the Pokemon lore, so it's nice that someone made a mod like this. All that said, the last update for this one was in 2016, and Pixelmon has been updating since then. As a result, it's questionable if this one still functions properly. It was created by Planet Minecraft user EhhChris.
3 Pixelmon Reforged
Pixelmon Reforged is another Pixelmon mod, and it is another ridiculously vast project that introduces the mechanics and characters of Pokemon into the Minecraft world. Like similar mods, Pokemon can be caught, battled, ridden, and trained.

This is another mod that requires Minecraft Forge. It is a massive project with several creators and seems to be updated often, even having its very own website.
2 PokeCraft Reforged
Pokemon GO Friendship Day Event
Pokecraft Reforged is an independently-made partner mod for Pixelmon Reforged and requires that mod in order to function. The goal of Pokecraft Reforged is to merge the world of Pokemon and Minecraft as opposed to outright replacing all the mobs and challenges of Minecraft with Pokemon.
This mod is updated to Minecraft version 1.12.2 and was uploaded by Curse Forge user HalestormXV.
1 Pixelmon Generations
This is yet another vast and incredibly-made Pokemon mod for Minecraft using the Pixelmon name. Pixelmon Generations also adds everything a player would expect from a Pokemon game - battling, catching, training, riding - with a few Minecraft-specific mechanics to keep it fresh. The Pokemon models are spectacular, and it's genuinely impressive that mods like Pixelmon Generations, Pixelmon Reforged, and their contemporaries exist.
This one has been made for version 1.12.2 and requires Minecraft Forge. This is another group effort on the part of the modders and once again has a dedicated website.
